I started this blog several years ago with high hopes, but life happened, and it forced me to pivot. Without going into detail, I’m sure others can relate. Life is filled with transitions, and unfortunately, most of them are not anticipated. The loss of a family member, relationship, or employment are just some of the transitions we all experience. When your forced into a transition, there is no handbook to read, and there are very few people who you can call. In these moments, the only thing you can do is trust God.
Faith tells us, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to Him, and He will make your paths straight (Proverbs 3: 5-6). When life throws you a curveball, friends may not understand and family might ridicule you, but you have to be resolute. Even if it means going against your own intellect and feelings. During a transition, you may not understand everything, but God promises to guide you along the way.
For me, though I was forced into a very difficult situation, I realized that I didn’t have to stay there. That was key - though I couldn’t control what happened, I did have control over what happened next. I didn’t plan on staying in that place forever, so I trusted God to guide me mentally and emotionally which meant leaning into Him through daily prayer, study, and wise counsel. Overall, the transition that I went through taught me a valuable lesson; God can use a season of unplanned change to strengthen faith and build character. Though I wish He could’ve done it a much easier way, God used a painful transition and turned it into purpose, now I have more of a reason to write.
